Team Northumbria overcame a fourth quarter fightback from Oaklands Wolves to claim a 77-70 overtime victory.
The home side led by as many as 12 points, but were taken into an extra period before securing the win to improve to 7-6 and climb to sixth.
Alison Gorrell starred with an all-round effort of 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists with Kara Bonnenberger added a 20-point haul.
Northumbria used a 9-1 run to move ahead in the first before the visitors closed the gap to a single point. That narrow margin would remain going into half-time after an even second period kept the hosts in front.
The game remained close before Northumbria pulled away with a 15-5 close to third to lead by 12 at 57-45. However, there was to be another twist as Oaklands held their opponents to seven points in the fourth including two in the last seven minutes.
The Wolves whittled down the deficit before tying the game late on with Amber Charles holding her nerve for a pair of free throws to force overtime.
Northumbria restored control with a 6-0 start and finished strong to close out the victory.
Lauren Christie went 9-of-12 from the field as she finished with a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double with the Wolves coming close to a first league win.
