It was a momentous moment for Durham on Sunday evening
WBBL Championship
BA London Lions 54-63 Durham Palatinates (20-16, 24-31, 32-47)
It proved to be a historic night for Durham Palatinates as they racked up their first ever win as a WBBL club.
After losing their opening 10 league games, they can finally enjoy that winning feeling after coming out on top at fellow struggler Lions, who are still without a victory this season.
Leading scorers – Brantlova 16, Willis 16, Christie 10 (Lions), Ceazer 26, Jagodzinksa 13, Fong Lyew Quee 13 (Palatinates)
Turning point – The second quarter was a disaster for Lions who had racked up 20 points in the opening period. However, they scored just two baskets in this period and lost all of the impetus.
Key stat – In a relatively low-scoring game, 17 points from turnovers was a big number and source of joy for Durham.
Game hero(es) – Cierra Ceazer brought it for Palatinates as she put on a show with 26 points and was just one board shy of a double-double.
