A busy week in the WBBL Championship saw 14 games, with a high-scoring win for Oaklands Wolves leading to a pair of representatives in the latest All-Star 5, led overall by a sensational performance from Holly Winterburn of the league-leading London Lions.

Holly Winterburn – London Lions

London Lions got three wins in the week to improve to 18-1 and within a whisker of the WBBL Championship title, starting with a huge road win at Nottingham Wildcats with a near triple-double from Great Britain international guard Holly Winterburn, leading to her seventh All-Star 5 appearance of the season which third among all players. She poured in 25 points in under 25 minutes, hitting 5-10 (50%) at the three-point line, while handing out 11 assists, grabbing eight rebounds and nabbing six steals, pulling the strings early on with a triple and three assists in a 16-0 start from which Lions never looked back.

Karly Murphy – B. Braun Sheffield Hatters

The overall leader in All-Star 5 appearances, Karly Murphy features for the third week in a row and eleventh time overall after Sheffield Hatters won twice to move up to third in the WBBL Championship table. In a close home win over Essex Rebels she recorded a huge double-double of 24 points and 20 rebounds, including eight points in a 21-13 third quarter that got them in front from double-figures down, and four crucial points in a nail-biting final two minutes as Hatters held on for a key victory.

Grace George – Oaklands Wolves

Tenth-placed Oaklands got a first road win since October by beating Nottingham on Saturday, led by a big scoring display from Grace George as she features in the weekly team for the second time, but first in 20 weeks. She poured in 31 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, along with four assists and two blocks, including 10 second stanza points as they scored 30 in the period to take a commanding half time lead that meant they were never threatened thereafter.

Andrea Kohlhaas – Essex Rebels

Essex Rebels have won five straight games at home after beating Manchester Met Mystics on Sunday, resulting in a first All-Star 5 appearance of the campaign for their captain Andrea Kohlhaas. She scored 29 points in 28 minutes, shooting an eye-watering 6-8 (75%) from three-point range, with five rebounds and two assists, including back-to-back triples in a 15-4 start that gave the hosts the lead for good and an amazing 14 points in the second period as Rebels won all four quarters.

Jorjah Smith – Oaklands Wolves

The other double-double hero from the big Oaklands road win was Jorjah Smith, who also makes her second All-Star 5 showing of the season, but first since week eight. She scored 24 points as she and Grace George combined for nearly half their team’s total, Smith also grabbing 12 rebounds, with five assists and three steals, including 12 points, four rebounds and two assists in the 30-point second stanza that put the game way beyond the visitors.
