Georgia Jones leads five players in double-figures as Mystics beat Archers on the road.

Cardiff Met Archers 67 – 84 Manchester Mystics (24-20, 37-44, 69-50)

Manchester Mystics have started the 2018/19 WBBL Championship strongly after beating Cardiff Met Archers 84-67 on the road to move to 2-0, with a second double-digit win.

Mystics have now won the last six league meetings between the teams, dating back nearly three years.

Turning point – Mystics overturned a first quarter deficit with a 13-4 start to the second stanza, as Evelyn Ovner scored six points to make the score 33-28 as she had 10 second quarter points. A 7-0 burst made the score 42-35 before the half, and it was comfortably in double-digits when Mystics ended the third period in the same way, leading 69-50 on a Georgia Jones three-pointer.

Key stat – The Mystics offence caused problems for the hosts, particularly in the first half, as Cardiff committed 14 first half fouls. Mystics shot 15-17 (88%) free-throws by halftime to capitalise, with Natalie Chaloner 6-6 and Jones 5-6.

Game hero – Five players scored in double-figures for Mystics, but they were led once more by Georgia Jones, who scored 20 points, with six rebounds and five assists.
