With the inaugural and historic WBBL Cup Final between Nottingham Wildcats and Manchester Mystics just 11 days away, we turn to Great Britain and Hatters’ star Helen Naylor to get her take on the big game at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Sunday 15 January. Especially as Naylor won silverware at the venue last January when she lifted the WBBL Trophy.

“I think both teams are fairly evenly matched and have good offensive threats.

“They have both proved throughout the season so far, that they have inside and outside threats and both play to their strengths well.

“I think machester have the stronger bench and they will need big contributions from those players.

“I think Nottingham will need to slow down Georgia Jones and keep the ball out of her hands as much as possible.

“Manchester keeping the game close will depend on how well they cope with Ashley Harris inside.

“I think it’s going to be an exciting, up-tempo game that is going to go down to the wire.

“If I had to make a prediction I would say Manchester will just prevail, but it really could go either way and will boil down to which team shows up ready on the day and who plays the toughest defence.”
