Leaders power their way past basement dwellers

Nottingham Wildcats extended their lead at the top of the WBBL Championship to four points after beating Oaklands Wolves 40-74 away from home.

Ashley Harris continued her impressive form with a stellar double-double of 36 points and 11 boards with Joana Ferreira also in double figures with 10.

The visitors made an 11-3 start to the game and increased their lead beyond double figures by the end of the first quarter.

However, Oaklands responded well in the second and held their opponents to just nine points although they would only reduce the deficit by a single point, heading into half-time.

After the break, Nottingham broke clear with a strong third period with a 16-0 close – including 12 from Harris – breaking the hosts’ resistance.

Ashton Fleming top scored with 13 points for the Wolves as they eventually fell to a 34-point defeat to drop to 0-12.
