Cardiff Met Archers 56 (13,26,44) (Fritz 24, Wagstaff 13, Collins 9)
Barking Abbey Crusaders 71 (19,40,59) (Johnson 17, Wilkinson 16, Whittington 9)
In a rare Thursday night fixture in the WBBL Championship, it was Barking Crusaders who came out on top against Cardiff Met Archers after posting a 56-71 road win.
The triumph also completed a clean sweep for Barking who had brushed aside Archers in the reverse league fixture, as well as in a WBBL Trophy encounter.
Getting onto the front foot right from the tip-off with a 10-4 lead, Crusaders never had cause to look back as they eased their way past the home team by steadily extending their advantage.
Led by forward Abigail Johnson who landed a sweet double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, Crusaders always looked comfortable against Archers, who only had Judit Fritz truly finding her range.
The only downside for the victorious Crusaders was a worrying facial injury to Great Britain’s Savannah Wilkinson, who added 16 points to the cause. There were also five assists for Diana Naydenova-Goryanova.
