Barking Abbey secured a 60-54 victory over NCAA Division III school Springfield College in an exhibition on Tuesday afternoon at BA.

BA overturned a 36-30 halftime deficit to hand the visitor the only defeat of their 10 day UK tour. Savannah Wilkinson led BA with 19 points and 17 rebounds, Tereza Brantlova had 19 points, whilst Teresa Da Silva finished with 8. Megan Sheret added 6 points and 8 rebounds.

“It was a very pleasing game against a good level team with great tradition,” BA Head Coach Mark Clark commented.

“I was pleased that we had contributions across the roster.”

An agonisingly slow start for BA saw them get into a 4-16 hole, before picking up their defensive effort, punctuated by a Brantlova 3 to pull within six at half time.

The third quarter remained close, before Teresa Da Silva, was who limited by foul trouble in the first half, sparked BA with back to back baskets and a steal.

Baskets from Wilkinson, Armanu and Brantlova broke open the game, as BA used a solid effort from Charlotte Elmore in her return, and a mature performance from Sheret to seal the victory.

Heather King led Springfield with 12 points and 6 rebounds.
