Leicester Riders have re-signed American guard Alex Smith for a third season in the WBBL.

Smith becomes the second signing of the summer, joining Spanish forward Rebeca Navarro as well as a host of returning players on the squad.

In two seasons with the Riders, Smith has averaged 11.8 points per games as well as 6.4 rebounds and 5 assists per game at the guard spot.

“I am extremely excited to be back with the club for another season,” said Smith.

“The past two years have been amazing, each year I grew as a player and I am excited to see what this year has in store.

“We had a great season last year and I am looking to build upon our success.”

Head Coach Krumesh Patel added: “We are extremely pleased to have Alex Smith return to us for her third year with the club.

“She has been a tremendous player for us over the last two year and has grown as a leader so it is great to see her back to ready the team this year and help push us forwards in all competitions.

“I am really happy that she is with us at the helm for my first season in charge and I am excited to get rolling this pre-season.”
