Scottish star McGarrachan returns to Riders

Leicester Riders have added Erin McGarrachan to the roster for 2017-18 as the core of returning players continues to expand ahead of the start of the WBBL pre-season.

Riders have continued to re-sign players as Scottish and Great Britain forward McGarrachan returns to the line-up following two seasons with the club already.

The Scottish star averaged 8.6 points per game last season to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per outing, as she came back strong from injury the season before.

“I can’t wait to get started with the team,” McGarrachan commented on joining the club for a third straight campaign.

“Building on last year, I believe we are going to be a force to be reckoned with. I really enjoyed studying at Loughborough’s Business School and playing at Loughborough University.

“Everyone from, professors to coaches, has a positive attitude and approach towards the needs of a student athlete! This was very refreshing and allowed my sporting achievements to compliment my education nicely!”

Meanwhile Head Coach, Krumesh Patel was pleased to see the Great Britain Senior re-join the club as the roster continues to come together for the season.

He stated: “After the season last year, it’s great to see Erin join back with the Riders. She has great leadership skills and is a role model on and off the court.

“She brings something different to this team with the ability to score from the inside and out and I am sure that her versatility will help the team.”
