Quick signing for Archers

Cardiff Met Archers have bolstered their roster for the forthcoming WBBL season with the addition of post player Merissa Quick.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the American has previously played professionally in Portugal, Turkey and Australia.

A graduate of Emporia State, Quick competed with Boa Viagem in Liga Feminina during 2015-16 and played in Turkey last season at Ferko Ilgaz Kastamonu. Those stints came either side of a spell last summer Down Under with Bundaberg Bears.

“I am extremely excited about playing in a competitive league that also gives players an opportunity to further their education by partnering with the university,” stated Quick.

“The programme in Cardiff seems to have a great school of sport and health sciences and I look forward to being able to learn from others with a different basketball/coaching background to mine.

“I can’t wait to live in the capital of Wales and be able to explore and learn about not only the culture, but the history as well.”

Meanwhile Archers’ Player Coach, Stef Collins enthused: “We’re really excited to have Merissa joins the Archers programme and I look forward to playing alongside her.

“She brings a physical presence inside and will inevitably be a great asset to our team with her previous playing experience.”
