WBBL All-Star Five – Week 10

The weather caused havoc over the weekend and so did many of our fab five – with four debutantes making this week’s line-up.

Jen Ashton (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
After a loss against Sevenoaks, the Hatters got back on track impressively as they took apart Caledonia Pride. The guard play of Ashton was instrumental in the success as she booked her first ever starting berth with an eye-catching 15 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

Lauren Thomas-Johnson (Manchester Mystics)
Our second debutante also came up with a busy and impressive stat-line, with Thomas-Johnson integral to Mystics escaping with an overtime victory at Caledonia. She produced 23 points and also did the business with some nice defensive work, harevesting 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal.

Rheanne Bailey (Manchester Mystics)
Always a driving force for Mystics, their thrilling success in Scotland was founded mainly on a dazzling 28 point effort from Bailey, who was very much a difference-maker in the contest. She also did a great job in shutting out Pride with an awesome four blocks, plus 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Steph Gandy (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
The only player in our super five to have previously appeared this season, Gandy was at the heart of Hatters’ impressive work in Edinburgh as they showcased their title credentials. The veteran accumulated 25 points from a devastating 73% from the floor and also added 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Evelyn Ovner (Team Northumbria)
The Swedish star showed her full range of her skills as Team Northumbria continued their good form with a comfortable road win at Oaklands Wolves. She took down the hosts with an all-action display that witnessed her scoring a team-high 22 points to book her debut starting slot in our five.
