Oaklands Wolves have had to start the new calendar year without Canadian playmaker Kellie Ring and young Hungarian star, Aliz Varga.

Ring has left the Hertfordshire outfit after suffering a season ending ACL tear in their home game against Nottingham early last month. She has  now returned to Canada by mutual consent to undergo surgery and begin her recovery.

“We are all devastated for Kellie as she is a fantastic person and she will be missed around the whole organisation,” confirmed head coach, Lee Ryan.

“She will leave a lasting impact on everyone here and we wish her a speedy recovery. It is impossible for us to replace what she gave us on court. Instead, we will have to go in a new direction and give opportunities for others to shine.”

Also leaving the Wolves is the young talen Varga, who returns to Hungary for personal reasons.

He said: “It is unfortunate Aliz has to leave us at this point in the season and we will continue to support her as much as possible and wish her the best for the rest of the season.

“She will undoubtedly be a player to watch in the future and we are pleased we could be part of her growth in the sport.”

Oaklands will be looking to make additions before the signing deadline as they push for a Play-Off spot in the second half of the season.
