Sevenoaks Suns retake a share of top spot after beating Durham Palatinates on the road.

Durham Palatinates 54 – 70 Sevenoaks Suns (12-19, 29-32, 40-46)

Sevenoaks Suns dominated the fourth quarter to power past Durham Palatinates in the first ever WBBL meeting between the teams, winning 70-54.

The win sees the Suns move back up to joint-top of the WBBL Championship table, bouncing back from their first defeat of the season last weekend.

Turning point – The hosts were within one shot for much of the game, until Judit Fritz ended the third quarter with a momentum-changing ‘and-one’ play. She then added another six points, on back-to-back three-pointers, as Suns opened the fourth period with a 10-2 burst to make the lead 56-42.

Key stat – Suns shot 41% from beyond the three-point line, although only Fritz (4-5, 80%) and Cat Carr (3-4, 75%) hit triples for them in the game.

Game hero(es) – Fritz led the way with 20 points, including key scores in the decisive run, while Julia Koppl added 12 points and a massive 18 rebounds – she already had her double-double by the half way point, with 10 points and 12 boards in the 20 minutes.
