Wolves, Pride & Archers Still Chase Play-offs

The WBBL Championship Play-off race goes on as Oaklands Wolves secured a crucial victory, while Caledonia Pride are closer to securing their spot despite defeat, as Cardiff Met Archers also lost.

Wolves are up to seventh after a 64-63 win over Pride saw them leapfrog their rivals, courtesy of an Esther Vazquaz free-throw with just 11 seconds remaining.

But Pride take a step closer to the Play-offs as ninth-placed Cardiff Met Archers could not capitalise, crashing to an 80-34 home defeat in the face of stifling defence from Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters, who are already confirmed in third place.

Pride have the head-to-head over Archers, and therefore cannot slip out of the top eight unless Durham Palatinates win all three of their games, including next weekend’s meeting between the two by more than seven points. But Archers have the head-to-head over Wolves, meaning that they will take the final Play-off spot if they beat BA London Lions and Wolves fail to win either of their last two games, with Durham failing to win all of their last three.

It all goes down to the final weekend.
