Jubilation and historic silverware for Sevenoaks Suns.
WBBL Championship
Manchester Mystics 44-57 Sevenoaks Suns (12-16,21-29,33-45)
Sevenoaks Suns have won the WBBL Championship for the first time after getting the win they needed at Manchester Mystics to finally edge out the relentless Leicester Riders who had been their main title rivals all season.
Suns have now won three of the four WBBL competitons since joining the league, adding this first Championship title to the WBBL Trophy and Play-Off Final success they delivered in 2016-17.
Leading scorers – Jones 13, Roscoe 9, Bailey 7 (Mystics), Clark 16, Pressley 13, Carr 11 (Suns)
Turning point – The Suns always held the upper hand off the back of their stifling defence which was evident right from the tip-off.
Key stat – The Mystics final points tally speaks volumes – as does the fact that Suns had 8 different scorers.
Game hero – Ta’Yani Clark caught the eye with an efficient 16 points from 66% shooting, while Cat Carr was just one assist short of a triple-double after scoring 11 points and harvesting 14 boards.
