Suns make history as they win WBBL Championship title

Sevenoaks Suns made history on Saturday night as they won the WBBL Championship for the very first time.

Their team defence proved priceless as they shut down Manchester Mystics 44-57. There were standout performances from Ta’Yani Clark who fired 16 smarts and team leader Cat Carr, who only missed out on a triple-double by a solitary assist.

Elsewhere, Caledonia Pride booked their place in the Play-Offs with a thrilling 73-70 home win against Durham Palatinates, whose dream of making the post-season is now over. Tricia Oakes starred with a double-double of 17 points and 12 boards.

Cardiff Met Archers are still alive and kicking in the race for the Play-Offs and they might yet squeeze into the top eight off the back of a fine 55-76 win in the capital against BA London Lions as Merissa Quick posted 24 points.

Finally, Nottingham Wildcats are still out for their usual top four spot. They beat Team Northumbria 78-73, which means their opponents will now play at Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters in the Play-Off Quarter-Finals.
