Oaklands Wolves have signed 5ft 9in Hungarian International guard, Dorka Boros for the 2018/19 WBBL season.

The 20-year-old joins the Wolves from the Budapest club Csata DSE and will add a great level of experience despite her age. Csata DSE finished top of the Hungarian second tier last season and Boros played a pivotal role in the success.

The powerful combo guard has represented Hungary in both U16 and U18 European Championships, and most recently stepped out at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup last year, where she averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game – helping her country to a 9th place finish.

Wolves’ Head Coach, Lee Ryan enthused: “We are ecstatic to secure the signing of Dorka! She has such a bright character, she will be a positive influence on the entire programme – in addition to her qualities as a player.

“We had to fight of strong US competition for her; but its great to see UK programmes starting to match the US pull. She is a terrific player, but the best part is she far from the finished product. Dorka is eager to learn and improve and we are excited to help bring the best out of her in the coming years.”

Boros will be studying her undergraduate degree in psychology with Oaklands Wolves partner programme, the University of Hertfordshire. This will see her play a dominant role in the BUCS Premier Programme, as well as the WBBL for the next three years.

“I cannot wait to play with the Wolves in the WBBL this year,” stated Boros.

“It’s my first experience playing club basketball outside of Hungary, so the league will be new to me. I’m keen to get going, to start the University programme and work with my teammates.

“Knowing how hard we are already working, I think we will do well this year. Let’s go Wolves,” added the player.
