Oaklands Wolves have extended their exciting roster for the upcoming season with the addition of Tia Freeman, as the player returns home to continue her rise in the WBBL.

Freeman, a 5ft 10in British guard, has spent the last two campaigns with Oaklands Wolves as part of their player development Academy at Oaklands College. Now a senior, Freeman will be looking to continue her impressive climb in the game which culminated in her being named to the Great British U20 team that competed in Oradea this summer.

The athletic guard averaged six points, three rebounds, and two assists in WBBL action last season, as well as staring in all junior competitions. This included a monster U18 Cup Final performance when she grabbed 30 points and 13 rebounds to be crowned Finals MVP.

The Sussex native has found a permanent home in Hertfordshire – news which delights Head Coach, Lee Ryan.

He said: “Tia has played a huge part in our rise in the WBBL so far and we are all thrilled she has chosen to return to us for the next three years.

“A special talent, Tia had her pick of institutions both abroad and at home and we supported her in the pursuit of each one of those developments.

“For Tia to ultimately decide this is the best place for her to continue her growth and her education is a great testament to the programme we are building at Oaklands.

” A popular figure amongst the team, Tia has jumped right back where she left off and I’m looking forward to her improvements year on year.”

Freeman will be another player to benefit from the link with the University of Hertfordshire as she starts her business undergraduate degree this fall, and the player is enthusiastic about the future.

She declared: “The current excitement and ambition surrounding the Wolves is one of the main factors influencing my decision to return to the programme.

“Oaklands have a really effective talent pathway and with the addition of the University of Hertfordshire it is now a great opportunity to be at a top club right though the academic journey.

“I get to continue my individual development under Coach Ryan, and the Oaklands programme is a family, they are so energetic and close on and off the court, its a huge part in my decision to stay,” concluded Freeman.
