Hatters reach Cup Final, Eagles & Wolves close gaps

Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters are the first team to reach the WBBL Cup Final after over-powering Manchester Mystics, the 2017 Cup winners, 93-63 on the road. Sarah Toeaina (27) and Luiana Livulo (25) combined for more than half of Sheffield’s points to send them to their first Cup Final.

Meanwhile, gaps were closed in the WBBL Championship as Newcastle Eagles and Oaklands Wolves scored important wins.

Eagles drew level with Cardiff Met Archers in sixth place after Kara Bonenberger’s 26 points and 13 rebounds led them to an 82-49 win in Wales, their first road win in the last four trips.

Elsewhere, Wolves got their first league win of the campaign by beating Essex Rebels 62-43 to match Rebels’ 1-8 record in the Play-off chase, as Lizzy Harrison scored 18 points and Tia Freeman added 16 points with eight rebounds and four steals.
