Saturday afternoon wins for Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters and Manchester Mystics tightened things up in the WBBL Championship’s top four, at the expense of Nottingham Wildcats who suffered a shock road defeat.

Hatters moved up to second after winning all four quarters against sixth-placed Newcastle Eagles, breaking a century at 109-85 as Levke Brodersen’s 27 points paced three who scored over 20.

But elsewhere, Nottingham Wildcats slipped to an 89-73 defeat at Oaklands Wolves, as Tia Freeman’s 24 points powered the hosts to victory, moving them up to tenth with a third win of the campaign and within striking distance of the Play-off places.

That meant that Manchester Mystics took a share of fourth spot as they snapped a run of four straight home defeats with Samantha Roscoe (28) and Jorjah Smith (20) combining for half of their points, as a dominant second half saw them beat eighth-placed Cardiff Met Archers 95-63.
