Team England guard Nicolette Fong Lyew Quee has signed for the Palatinates for the 2019/20 WBBL season and is very much looking forward to being back in Durham for the coming season.

She previously represented Durham during the 2017-18 campaign, prior to moving to play for Ferrol in the highly-rated Liga Femenina in Spain. The player has also competed for Team Northumbria in the WBBL.

Fong Lyew Quee made her Team England debut at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia and being asked of her position as a role model in the team she commented: “Over the years I have coached various teams and at camps, where I am responsible for many children and setting a good example is very important.

“Winning a silver commonwealth medal has also given me opportunities to speak to schools about my journey in basketball and help inspire. I hope my work ethic and passion can be seen by my team mates as this season goes on.”

On being asked about what her ultimate aims were for the season and how she deals with the volume of off court activities, practices and games, she added: “To obviously win as much as possible, and personally to work on my individual goals which will ultimately help the team.

“It can be tough at times, however, myself and several of the girls have played for many years, it’s something I have become used too and I am motivated for every game.”

Fong Lyew Quee will be a great asset to the Durham roster this season and as the club looks forward to seeing her international experience pay dividends in the WBBL.
