Petermans Sheffield Hatters will have a stacked roster for the new WBBL season after confirming that they will have a quartet of international players to call upon.

The towering figure of Luiana Livulo will once again patrol the paint as the powerhouse centre re-signs having impressed during 2018-19. She will be joined for the new campaign by her fellow Portuguese national team colleague, Rosinha Rosario who will work in tandem with her compatriot under the basket.

She said: “I have joined Hatters since it’s a brilliant programme and one of my best friends in Luiana (Livulo) has told me great things about the team.

“She had an awesome time last year and I am really excited to play for Hatters. I hope we can have a season as good as last year or even better.”

Rosario played in her homeland last season with Benfica and has also played professionally in Spain.

The club will also benefit from the services of American import duo Asha Thomas and Kayla Thigpen. The former has graduated from the University of California where the guard was highly productive for the Golden bears and handed out almost 4 assists per game in her last two seasons – as well as averaging a double-digit scoring return.

“Once I learned how successful the club has been over the years and heard nothing but good things about it, I felt it was the right move for me,” enthused Thomas.

“I was blessed they gave me an opportunity to live out one of my dreams. I want to be a part of something special and the Hatters are just that.

“I am definitely excited to be a part of this family,” she added.

Meanwhile Thigpen makes the move having represented the University of Central Florida and will arrive with all the insider info on Hatters. That’s because she has spent time playing alongside former Hatters’ star Georgia Gayle during her time in College.
