Sevenoaks Suns head coach Len Busch is looking forward to his rising stars challenging his core rotation for court time this season as the clubs rounds their roster for the 2020-21 WBBL season.

Leading the crop of rising stars looking to make an impression is the highly rated Asha Andrews who recently committed to play NCAA basketball in the States with Hawaii. The 17-year-old guard has already shown glimpses of her potential in the WBBL, after also impressing with the Great Britain youth teams.

She will be joined by fellow Suns U18 teammates Izzy Wood and Mila Stevanic, as well as 16-year-old prospect Zulieka Franklin.

“Asha is one of, if not the best, young point guard in the country,” declared Busch.

“She has a great handle and can flat out score. She has gotten a lot stronger over the summer and I am looking forward to seeing how she fares in the WBBL.

“Izzy is an athletic guard who can shoot and I think playing in the WBBL will help her get her game to the next level. Meanwhile Mila is a very good shooter who also will get her chance to perform at this level and Zulieka is a first year U18 player with a bright future. Playing at this level will accelerate her development as one of the best guards in her year group.”

With his roster now in place, the play-caller added: “We were disappointed the way last season ended as we felt we were playing well and in good position to win our third league title in a row.

“The WBBL looks good this year; Newcastle has a very deep and talented roster, BA London Lions have also invested a bit in an improved line-up, while Leicester Riders also looks ready to challenge.”
