Essex Rebels today announced the signing of DeAngelique Waithe, who returns to the club for a third season in the WBBL.
Waithe earned her degree at the University of Essex whilst also playing professionally for the Essex Rebels in their début season in the WBBL.
Waithe had a historic season finishing up second in the league in scoring as well as scoring the most two points made, and also went on to finish in the top ten in rebounding.
After a standout year in the WBBL, Waithe received an offer to play in Spain’s second league where she went on to average a double-double in points and rebounding.
She returned last season and quickly picked up where she left off finishing sixth overall in the league in rebounds and first for the rebels in scoring averaging 15.2 a game.
‘It’s great to have DeAngelique for her third season in the WBBL,” said Susy Davies, Performance Sport Manager at the University of Essex.
“She brings fantastic energy to practices and was an inaugural part of the Rebel Roadshow, taking our community engagement arm out into schools in the local community. We look forward to her continuing to delight fans both on court and in the community.”
