Essex Rebels today announced 5’11″ guard Tia Freeman will be joining their roster for the 2021-22 season.

The British guard recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University after two very successful seasons with the Nottingham Wildcats, helping guide them to an 11-9 season, averaging 8.3 pts and 3.4 assists.

Freeman has now chosen the University of Essex where she will continue her education studying for a Postgraduate Degree in Marketing and Brand Management while continuing her playing career with the Essex Rebels in the WBBL.

After representing Great Britain at both U16 and U20 level Tia now looks to cement her place in the Essex Rebels roster.

“I’m really excited to start my new journey at Essex,” said Freeman “I felt that the combination of undertaking my masters at university and playing for the club was the right fit for me.

“I feel that the team will be able to challenge for silverware this year and develop me as a player. I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter under the guidance and leadership of head coach Tom [Sadler].”
