Everyone in the latest WBBL All-Star 5 is making their first appearance of the season, featuring a pair of Suns and a pair of Hatters all led by Great Britain international Janice Monakana.

Janice Monakana – Sevenoaks Suns
Suns got a second WBBL Championship win of the campaign at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday, beating Newcastle Eagles led by a huge scoring performance from Monakana. She finished with 29 points, including knocking down 4-10 (40%) from beyond the three-point line and all seven of her free-throws, while also grabbing seven rebounds. She hit seven points in the first quarter, including the three-pointer that put Suns ahead for good, and then another seven in a third period that they won 17-9 to send their lead through 20 points.

Bre Hampton-Bey – Sheffield Hatters
Hatters opened their league campaign with a huge win as their scoring was led by American rookie guard Bre Hampton-Bey, who joined the team in the summer from Loyola University Chicago. On her debut on Saturday she came from the bench to hit 15 points on 6-11 (54%) shooting, with six rebounds, four assists and three steals, including six points in a second period where Hatters poured in 33 to brush aside Oaklands Wolves.

Julia Koppl – Sevenoaks Suns
In her sixth season with the Suns, Julia Koppl was highly productive in the win over Newcastle despite fouling out of the game in just over 23 minutes. She had nine points, five rebounds and three blocks in the opening 15 minutes as Suns quickly established a double-figure lead, finishing with 13 points, eight boards, four blocks and two steals for the game.

Karly Murphy – Sheffield Hatters
A second impactful American rookie joining the Hatters in the off-season, Karly Murphy came via an impressive senior year at Colorado State where the 6’1″ forward averaged 11 points and nine rebounds per game. Those credentials showed in under 21 minutes during Saturday’s win as she posted a big double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds, including seven points and four boards in the dominant second stanza.

Lauren Saiki – Cardiff Met Archers
Archers made it two wins out of two in the WBBL Championship behind star guard Lauren Saiki, making her first All-Star 5 appearance of the season following their narrow road win at Essex Rebels. She finished with 16 points and eight assists, adding four steals and three rebounds, as the game was broken open in a 16-6 six-minute spell over the half time break, during which Saiki had eight points, two assists and two steals, giving Archers a cushion that they would need to hold off a late fightback from the hosts.
