Durham Palatinates 88-68 Cardiff Met Archers

Durham Palatinates moved into the eighth seed with three games of their season remaining after a commanding victory at home against the Cardiff Met Archers.
First Half
The Archers were first on the scoresheet, but were unable to capitalise on their good start as the Palatinates responded promptly and had amassed an 11-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
Cardiff found their offensive rhythm more consistently in the second period to have their highest scoring quarter of the contest, but still Durham proved too much as they outscored their opponents by a further eight points in the period and went into the half up by 19.
Second Half
Lee Davie’s side showed no mercy in the third quarter as they continued to apply pressure on the Archers and won the third period 27-17 with Cardiff struggling to contain Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby and Elle Hendershot on the interior in particular.
The Archers did win the final period as Durham rotated their roster with the victory already secured, and the Palatinates will take a lot of confidence from this victory into the remainder of the Championship campaign as they compete to secure a Playoff berth and as high a seed as possible for the post-season.
#UNBEATABLE Player of the Game
The #UNBEATABLE Player of the Game was Durham star Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby, who contributed a staggering 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists to her team’s victory.

Nottingham Wildcats 69-92 Leicester Riders

Leicester Riders: Taylor O’Brien, Rayven Peeples, Marissa Hamilton, Samantha Ashby, McKenzie Johnston.
Leicester Riders moved to within two wins of the top of the Championship with a dominant victory over the Nottingham Wildcats, securing a 69-92 road victory.
First Half
With 55 points scored in the first quarter, there was plenty of action for fans in attendance to enjoy as these two Midlands rivals went to war in the opening exchanges.
It was the Riders who came out on top in the first 10 minutes, but the Wildcats put up a stern challenge behind their captain, Mari Stewart, demonstrating her scoring prowess on the way to 20 points overall.
A slower second quarter from Nottingham left the door open for Leicester to take advantage, up 49-33 at the half, but the margin didn’t reflect how close an encounter this was between two longtime rivals.
Second Half
After a dominant first half from Rayven Peeples, wh scored 15 of her 19 points in the opening 20 minutes, others stepped up in the third quarter to keep the Riders offence rolling, with Marissa Hamilton and McKenzie Johnston in particular proving a handful for Nottingham to deal with.
The Riders would go on to have five players score in double figures on the night, with Wildcats only able to offer a duo who could achieve the same feat, and it was that lack of consistent options on the offensive end which resulted in Nottingham’s downfall as Leicester ran out comfortable winners by the end of the contest, 92-69.
#UNBEATABLE Player of the Game
Rayven Peeples was awarded #UNBEATABLE Player of the Game honours after an outstanding individual performance saw her contribute 19 points, six rebounds and two assists to Leicester’s commanding victory.

Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles 71-67 Oaklands Wolves

Oaklands Wolves: Caterrion Thompson, Beth Sarson, Shaquera Wade, Amy West, Allison Day.
The Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles were given a real scare in the evening’s final fixture by the Oaklands Wolves, who had led the entire contest, before Newcastle came back to win narrowly and continue their Playoff push.
First Half
With a fantastic crowd in attendance once again, one might have expected the Eagles to have been buoyed by the support the local fans had come out to offer, but instead it was the Wolves who started quickest as they had their hosts on the backfoot from the outset in this encounter with Lee Ryan’s side winning the first quarter 24-18.
Catterion Thompson and Allison Day continued their fine form for Oaklands in this encounter as the duo – who would combine for 36 points by the end of the contest – gave Matt Newby’s side no end of problems but Newcastle, in front of 500 fans, battled well and trailed by just five at the half.
Second Half
A fairly even third quarter set up a fabulous final period where the home side, buoyed by their supporters, rallied and ran Oaklands ragged with a 21-11 period behind the on-fire Tierra Hodges to secure a dramatic comeback victory and place the Eagles in the driving seat to secure a post-season berth for the Playoffs.

After an incredible final quarter in particular, Eagles forward Tierra Hodges secured #UNBEATABLE Player of the Game honours with her 21 points and 10 rebounds overall contributing to Newcastle’s comeback victory.
