Super League Basketball is delighted to announce the winner of the Molten Sixth Player of the Year award for the 2025/26 season, following a voting process involving the League’s Head Coaches and Captains.
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters forward Megan Mullings has secured this year’s title. The 33-year-old has been a tone-setter on both ends of the floor for the treble-winners and whilst her offensive output shows up in the statistics, her defensive prowess is more understated in that regard but no less impactful.
A disruptive presence defensively, the American takes significant pride in that side of the game and has led by example for one of the league’s strongest defensive outfits.
Reflecting on his success in winning the award, Mullings said:
“I am incredibly honoured to have won the Molten Defensive Player of the Year. For me it is really cool because one of the things I really pride myself on is my defence. I never want to let anybody score easily or the same way twice, so it is great to be in a league that prioritises defence in this way and not just in stats.
“To know that the Coaches and the Captains felt similarly, that it’s not just about who has the most rebounds, steals, blocked shots or any of those things, but instead who is the player you don’t want to play against, that means a lot because I know it takes a lot of thought and so on to determine that.
“It helps to be on a team like this where defence is our main priority and is something we’ve been working on ferociously, fine-tuning all the time. I’m really grateful that Vanessa and Tyler have given us a scheme that works really well, which we can adjust every game to maximise our talents, and I’m grateful to have the support of my team in everything I do defensively. This is a very special honour.
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters Head Coach Vanessa Ellis added:
“Megan’s defensive presence has been a cornerstone of our team all season. This award recognises the discipline, focus, and determination she brings on that side of the game every single night.
“Her ability to read the game, apply pressure, and disrupt opposition rhythm is outstanding. She embraces the challenge of defending the opposition’s best players and consistently sets the tone for us defensively.
“We’re incredibly proud of her this recognition is thoroughly deserved and highlights the vital role she plays in our success.”

Voters were asked to choose their top three selections for the award, with the first choice earning three points, the second choice two points and the third choice one point, with the player who accrues the most points overall winning the award.
