There’s another pair of Nottingham Wildcats in the All-Star 5, for the third week in a row, as they continued their fine form in a fascinating weekend of WBBL Championship action that saw the mid-table and Play-off race tighten up, including a pair of double-doubles leading Durham’s Play-off charge, as Sevenoaks Suns remained unbeaten at the top.

Brooklyn Pannell – Nottingham Wildcats
The sixth-placed Wildcats are knocking on the door of the top five after beating Manchester Met Mystics, the team just above them, to make it three wins in a row, with American guard Brooklyn Pannell featuring in the All-Star 5 for a third time and a second consecutive week. She poured in 30 points and an astonishing 8-10 (80%) from beyond the three-point line, with six assists, five rebounds and four steals, including a trio of triples early in the second quarter as Wildcats established a double-figure lead and stayed in front from then on, Pannell hitting another late three to hold off any thoughts of a comeback as Mystics got to within single-figures.

Jahnae Gyles – Nottingham Wildcats
Backcourt partner Jahnae Gyles also gains weekly honours for the second time in the last three weeks after she led the scoring in that game with 33 points – Gyles and Pannell combining for two-thirds of Nottingham’s total. She was a threat from all over the court, shooting 6-9 (66%) from three-point range and 7-10 (70%) from inside the arc, also grabbing five rebounds in the game. She had 11 points in the final five minutes of the first half to break open a two-shot game as Wildcats took a double-figure lead by the break and scored 55 points in the first twenty minutes.

Frankie Wurtz – Sevenoaks Suns
Sevenoaks Suns are an unbeaten 13-0 at the top of the WBBL Championship and were absolutely dominant in beating Oaklands Wolves at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday, with American guard Frankie Wurtz posting a double-double to make her third All-Star 5 appearance and, like the other two, also a second in three weeks. She finished with 17 points on 7-10 (70%) shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds, also handing out three assists, including six points in a 19-3 start as the league-leaders took charge from the off.

Jessica Wayne – Durham Palatinates
The only debutant in this week’s team, American guard Jessica Wayne was instrumental as Durham made it three wins in their last four games and moved up to tenth in the table, now just one win behind the team that they beat, Essex Rebels, who occupy the last Play-off place. She put up a double-double of 19 points, hitting 4-8 (50%) three-pointers, and 11 rebounds, with four steals and two assists. Palatinates had 24 points from turnovers and 24 second chance points, with nine points coming directly from her steals and offensive boards, and she had 12 points in the first half as Durham established a double-figure lead by the break.

Elle Hendershot – Durham Palatinates
Another double-double for Palatinates came from Elle Hendershot as she is another player in this week’s team making her third All-Star 5 appearance of the season. She finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists and three big blocked shots, with 12 points, six rebounds and all three of those blocks coming in that decisive first half display, as well as six points in the last four minutes to hold off Rebels’ late rally.
