BA London Lions have announced the signing of Cassidy Glenn from NCAA Division 1 school Northern Illinois University for the 2017-18 WBBL season.
Glenn, a multi-faced 5ft 11in forward, started 32 of her 33 games as a Senior at NIU, averaging 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
“London has always been a place that I dreamed of visiting, but to have the opportunity to play professional basketball here is the best of both worlds,” said Glenn.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to begin my professional career with BA London Lions and see where this year takes us.”
The American provides much needed reinforcement for BA London Lions, who have started the season 0-2. She graduated from Providence Catholic High School as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 1,308 points, and whilst at NIU had eight 20-point games in her senior year, including a career-high 32 versus Miami University. She also recorded an NIU season-best 22 rebounds against the Cardinals, the fourth-most in a game in programme history.
“I’m really pleased Cassidy has joined us,” BA Head Coach, Mark Clark commented.
“Already she’s had a huge impact around the programme. She offers us lots of different options; she can be very good getting to the hoop, is a very strong defender, shoots the ball very well and she’s already demonstrated that she’s going to make people around her better.
“That’s what our programme is about; players getting the opportunity to develop, getting the opportunity to play at the highest level in the UK and getting the opportunity to try and win.
“I can’t be more pleased in the way that she’s already started to find her feet in London being part of the Lions organisation and being able to help the academy at Barking Abbey.
“We have one more player to add, we think we’re in good shape and hopefully we’ll demonstrate that against Cardiff tomorrow,” concluded Clark.
