Cardiff returnees Lewis and Picault delighted for new WBBL season

Cardiff Met Archers continued to build their impressive roster today, confirming the returns of both Robyn Lewis and Marie Le Picault.

Lewis will be returning to the Welsh club for her third season, whilst Picault will make it her second.

“It’s great to have Robyn and Marie returning for another season with the Archers,” said Head Coach Stef Collins.

Following Tuesday’s confirmation of the 2020-21 fixtures, Lewis says she is ‘extremely grateful’ to return to the court.

“It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but basketball always helps provide a bit of focus and normality,” said the Scottish guard.

“I’m extremely grateful that so much work has gone into ensuring the season can go ahead and can’t wait to be back on the court with my teammates.”

Coach Collins added, “Robyn is a natural leader who plays with great pace and tenacity, she will provide such a big spark for us at both ends of the floor.”

Joining Lewis in returning to the club is Marie Le Picault, who joined the Archers last season.

“Marie is the epitome of a team player – someone who comes in, works hard, and supports the team in whatever role that is given to her,” added Collins.

“She’s always motivated to improve and I’m excited to see her continue to develop at this level of competition”

Picault is delighted to be returning for her second season with the club and says their preseason has been ‘really positive’.

“Our preseason has been really positive, with great team performances in friendly games and quality training sessions,” said the French born Picault.

“We all feel extremely lucky to be able to play again despite these unusual circumstances, so we are determined to make the most of it.”
