The Essex Rebels have got their summer signing activity underway by confirming the return of fan favourite forward Claire Paxton for the 2025/26 Super League Basketball season.
Standing at 6’2” and bringing a wealth of experience, the 30-year-old power forward has been an integral part of the Rebels since joining in the 2021/22 season. Paxton’s career has also seen her play in the league for the Durham Palatinates, Leicester Riders, and Caledonia Gladiators, following a standout collegiate career at Colorado Christian University (2013–2017).
Paxton’s impact extends beyond SLB action. She represented Scotland at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in 3×3 basketball and has been a consistent presence in Great Britain’s 3×3 programme, including most recently over the summer where she once again donned the GB jersey for the FIBA 3×3 Series in Azerbaijan.
Rebels Head Coach Ashley Cookson expressed his excitement over Paxton’s return:
“Having Claire back for another season is massive for us. She’s been a key part of the Rebels for several years now, and her experience continues to be a valuable asset to the team.
“This summer, she represented Great Britain in 3×3 competition, showing her ability to compete at the highest level. Claire brings composure and confidence on and off the court, helping to shape the team’s identity. We’re excited she’ll be part of the squad again this year.”
Paxton herself is eager to get started:
“I’m happy to be back and excited for the season ahead! Looking forward to getting back to work with a new group and hopefully we can have a successful year.”
