Cardiff Met Archers have confirmed that more of their core players from last season will be returning in 2017-18, along with new signing Justine Ferland who is making the switch from Cardiff City.
Holly Merchant, Solene Lemoigne, and Levi Warren are all confirmed as returners, with the latter one of the longest-serving players on the rosters.
‘Being a student-athlete at Cardiff Met for the last 3 years as an undergraduate has given me so many opportunities both academically and in basketball, playing for the BUCS and WBBL team,” stated Warren.
“It has been the perfect environment to develop myself as a basketball player alongside gaining myself a degree. The support from both my lecturers and coaches have been the reason I have been able to succeed on and off the court.
“The facilities at Cardiff Met have been a real bonus to my experience, with access to the strength and conditioning gym as well as the opening of the brand new Archer’s Arena earlier on this year.”
She continued: “After having such positive experience at Cardiff Met I decided to carry on my studies here in Cardiff and do a masters in Sports Coaching where I will have the chance to coach in the Archers Academy.
“The family feel of the club and the Archers family has made my time here much more enjoyable and the main reason I want to continue playing and studying in Cardiff.”
Archers’ Player Coach, Stef Collins is thrilled to have added four more players to her roster and added: “It’s very important for us that we have continuity and it’s exciting to have Holly, Solene and Levi back with us.
“We’re also confident that Justine will give us further strength. She grew up in America playing basketball and in college. We know that she’s looking forward to stepping up to the challenge of the WBBL in this first season with us.”
