Former GB star Thomas-Johnson back with Mystics

It’s been a sensational season so far for Manchester Mystics and they are showing no signs of slowing down after bringing Lauren Thomas-Johnson back to the club.

A regular with Great Britain and with major international tournaments such as EuroBasket Women on her resume, Thomas-Johnson is back from maternity leave and ready to shine in the WBBL once again.

“We are delighted to welcome Lauren back to the club as she has had a long association with basketball in Manchester from when she was younger and having played for Mystics already in the WBBL,” stated head coach, Jeff Jones.

“She has qualities which can help us continue to move forward and brings a scoring presence and lots of intelligence and experience.

“These are the kind of ingredients you always like as a coach and she will be welcomed by her team-mates too.”

He added, “Lauren still has a little way to go in terms of getting back to 100% game-shape after her lay-off, but we look forward to working with her on this and she’s a great addition.”

Thomas-Johnson joins other Great Britain players in the likes of Georgia Jones and Dominique Allen on the roster.

She previously played with Mystics in the WBBL and is also well known for her successful time with Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters, where she has spent the bulk of her career to date.

Thomas-Johnson is expected to be involved this weekend for Mystics in the home game against Sevenoaks Suns.
