It will come as little surprise to followers of the women’s game in the UK that the phenomenal play of Ashley Harris has seen her land the prestigious accolade of Molten WBBL MVP for 2016-17.

The Nottingham Wildcats star was the runaway winner in voting by WBBL clubs/coaches, after another dominant campaign and it is richly deserved after only just being squeezed out by her team-mate Amber Stokes in the race for the 2015-16 edition.

Harris has been unstoppable and the centrepiece of Wildcats successfully defending their Betty Codona Classic and WBBL Championship crowns. She led the league in scoring with 25.3 points per game and completing a powerful and classy season double-double with 11.3 rebounds per game. Harris was also the most deadly finisher with a magnificent 63% from the field and the second best shot-blocker with an average of 1.2 swats per outing.

The influence of the American was also underlined by a jaw-dropping number of spots in the weekly WBBL All-Star Five. She eventually amassed an astonishing 17 appearances across the 23 weekly line-ups and on one occasion, recorded a historic WBBL All-Time high performance efficiency valuation of 55.

Now Harris is looking to lead Wildcats to more silverware this Sunday in front of a record-breaking crowd at The 02 in London.

She will be one of the star attractions at the British Basketball Play-Off Finals as the frontcourt powerhouse looks to take down Sevenoaks Suns in a game that will be shown worldwide on the BBC Sport website and made available via the red button for UK viewers.
