Oaklands Wolves are thrilled to announce the welcome return of Lizzy Harrison, who re-signs for the club after joining them for the second half of last season.

The 5ft 11 in guard arrived after the Christmas break having graduated from NCAA DII Newman University. And, despite still recovering from a left hand bone break, Harrison had an immediate impact on the team and played a crucial role in their improvements during the later stages of their debut campaign.

Harrison averaged 7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game across her 12 WBBL games last season, whilst also putting in strong defensive performances against some of the leagues strongest perimeter threats.

“It’s great to have Lizzy back and with us from the start this season,” said Wolves’ play-caller Lee Ryan.

“We only got a glimpse of her qualities last year and she will be very effective in this league now she is fit and healthy.

“Lizzy’s impact was felt right through the programme when she arrived. She is a great leader and role model for the younger players as she has a work ethic and energy that makes a programme tick.

“Lizzy has aspirations to play at the highest level and with the national team in her sights, we will do our part to help her achieve those goals.”

Harrison will also take on the role of design and media co-ordinator at Oaklands College, allowing her to have a greater impact around the entire programme and helping to raise the profile of the Hertfordshire based team.

“I’m really excited to be back for a full season with Oaklands Wolves,” said Harrison.

“I’ve been given a great opportunity to combine my two passions as a career, basketball and design.

“Last season was a good learning opportunity for the team, but with the new players coming in and the coaching staff we have, I already know we will be turning some heads this year!

“I’m ready to take on a bigger role and I’m ready to show what I can do in this league.”
