It’s a new year and there’s a new title for B. Braun Sheffield Hatters Head Coach Vanessa Ellis to keep in her trophy cabinet as she’s been awarded the Molten Coach of the Month honours for a delightful December in the Women’s British Basketball League.
A 3-1 record in December saw the Hatters secure a 20-point win over the title-challenging Caledonia Gladiators, as well as convincing victories over Cardiff Met Archers and Oaklands Wolves – only a close-fought loss to Essex Rebels prevented Sheffield from a perfect month.
The Hatters are the most recent team to experience on-court action in the League as they bested the Wolves on December 30th, but are in the middle of a two-week hiatus from competitive games as they await their quarter-final tie in the Trophy competition on January 14.
The Hatters are two-time winners of the Trophy, and reached the semi-final stage last year, so will be amongst the favourites to book a place at Utilita Arena Birmingham, but will need to topple the holders – London Lions – before booking their place in the Final.
