Hayward heads back to Riders

Dee Hayward is set to return to the Leicester Riders for the 2018-19 Women’s British Basketball League season.

The guard had planned to head to the US to pursue non-basketball career opportunities, but had a change of heart and has decided to return to court with Riders for what will be her fourth WBBL campaign with the club.

The Scottish star averaged an impressive 15.2 points per game during the 2017-18 Regular Season and 17.6 per game in Cup and Trophy play, helping the Riders to their first WBBL silverware. The club also posted their best ever league placing, only just missing out on the league title with Sevenoaks on points difference.

Hayward is looking forward to getting back on the WBBL court with the Leicester Riders and stated: “It’s been a good learning curve over the summer. The path I thought I wanted to take wasn’t the right one for me at this time.

“I was overwhelmed by the support I received and Leicester promised to always have a home for me so I’m delighted to be back playing for them.

“I’m looking forward to making more history under a new coach, with new and returning teammates,” concluded Hayward.
