London Lions maintained their perfect start to the 2021/21 WBBL Championship campaign as they beat Cardiff Met Archers 83-47 on Sunday afternoon.
Lions got off to a fast start and asserted their dominance early on. They finished the first quarter ahead by 11 with the score at 23-12.
Archers had a better second quarter, outscoring their opponents 21-18 to reduce the deficit to eight points at the half time break.
Lions, however, came out a different side in the second half and quickly opened up a sizable lead. They scored 21 points in the third and limited Archers to just eight points to go into the final quarter 62-41 ahead.
The visitors added a further 21 points in the final quarter to cap off an impressive second half performance and win 83-47.
Cassie Breen led the scoring for Lions as she finished with 19 points and five rebounds. Mara Marchizotti was the standout player for Archers, contributing 16 points, four rebounds and two assists.
The win moves Lions to the top of WBBL Championship table, level on points with Sheffield Hatters who have also won their opening five matches. For Archers, the loss sees them drop to seventh.
