The B. Braun Sheffield Hatters have confirmed their first new signing of the off-season as they’ve announced the acquisition of Marina Fernandez for the upcoming campaign.
The 28-year-old forward has several years of experience in British basketball, having played for the Durham Palatinates last season, and previously for the Newcastle Eagles between 2020-2024. Last season with the Palatinates, Marina averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2 steals per game.
Discussing her move to Yorkshire, Fernandez said:
“I’m excited to be signing in Sheffield this season with the Hatters. We’ve had some great battles over the last few seasons, so I am aware of how they play and their values.
“I can’t wait to play in front of the home crowds at the Canon Medical Arena, there’s been some great atmospheres when I’ve played there before so having that support on our side next year will be fantastic!”
Hatters Head Coach Vanessa Ellis added:
“Marina brings with her a great deal of experience which will be great for us going into next season. She allows us to continue to improve and strive for our goals of bringing home some more silverware in 2025/26.”
