Newcastle Eagles continued their unbeaten start to the SLB following a convincing 85-56 victory on the road to the Nottingham Wildcats.
The Eagles asserted their dominance from the start, leaping out to a 6-0 lead, and the Tyneside outfit never looked back, pulling their advantage to as many as 32 points while shooting 20/29 from the foul line.
Three Newcastle players recorded double-doubles led by Andrea Daley’s 26 points and 10 rebounds. Alyssa Marin added 24.
Johannah Langbehn’s 13 points led Nottingham on 6/7 shooting.
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters 94-61 Manchester Basketball
B. Braun Sheffield Hatters bounced back from last weekend’s loss to Caledonia Gladiators by thumping Manchester Basketball 94-61.
The Hatters held Manchester to just 19 field goals, while the winners drained 12 three-pointers and posted a fantastic scoring spread, with six players scoring in double figures and 36 points coming from the bench.
Shauna Harrison led Sheffield with 20 points and six rebounds. Grace Graham and Antoinette Lewis both posted 13 points. Frannie Hottinger led Manchester with 12 points.
Essex Rebels 92-78 Oaklands Wolves
The Essex Rebels flew out of the gate and never looked back by ousting the champions, Oaklands Wolves, 92-78.
The Rebels suffocated the Wolves early, as they began proceedings with a 19-0 run, holding Oaklands scoreless for the first five minutes before Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant opened their account with a three-pointer.
But the damage was already done, as Quinesha Lockett paced Essex with 25 points on 8/13 shooting and Nat Chou amassing 22. Leslia Finau led Oaklands with 16 points.
London Lions 64-69 Leicester Riders
Leicester Riders’ strong second and third quarters proved enough to overcome the London Lions 69-64 in a physical match-up in the capital.
Jada Holland led the Riders with 24 points on a solid 10/15 from the field as a closely contested first half was broken open in the third quarter when Leicester, who led 39-37 at the break, held the Lions to just seven points to stretch the advantage to 58-44 after three.
London got it to 66-64 with less than a minute to play through Mya Proctor, but on the next possession, Katie Januszewska hit a triple to end London’s hopes.
Annika Shah had 22 points for London.
Caledonia Gladiators 114-42 Cardiff Met Archers
Caledonia Gladiators shot 61 percent from the field as they dismissed the Cardiff Met Archers ruthlessly 114-42 at PlaySport.
Ella Doherty paced the Gladiators with 20 points and five rebounds. Sheridan Flauger was the only Archers player in double figures, as she amassed 14 points.
