Essex Rebels are again delighted to be able to confirm another high-profile signing as Sonya Nikolova has confirmed that she will be appearing as a Rebel in the WBBL this year.

Originally from Bulgaria, Nikolova brings a wealth of experience to the university programme having competed previously in her home country as well as spells with teams in the Netherlands, Germany and Spain.

She adds further inside presence to the Rebels as a strong rebounding power forward. More recently she has represented Bulgaria as their number 1 ranked female competing in FIBA 3v3 competition.

Mark Lloyd Head Coach commented: “It is fantastic to being adding Sonya to our roster. Once again, not only have we recruited an experienced and talented player – but even more importantly a terrific person, who has already bought her positivity and personality to the practice floor.”

He added: “She is a high energy smart thinking basketball player with great on court and off leadership skills.”
