Former WNBA star Kiki Herbert-Harrigan has added the Molten WBBL Player of the Month award for March to her Betty Codona WBBL Trophy Final MVP award, after leading her team to an unbeaten month and the defence of that piece of silverware.

The 6’2″ Anguilla-born Brit joined Lions in the summer and has thus far had a standout first campaign on these shores, having previously been selected sixth in the 2020 WNBA Draft, representing the Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm, either side of a stint in Turkey and after a stellar college career at South Carolina.

She finished March as the driving force behind London’s defence of the Betty Codona WBBL Trophy, breaking the record for the most points scored in a Trophy Final as she poured in 33 in just 32 minutes as Lions beat Leicester Riders at the Emirates Arena, live on Sky Sports. She shot 10-16 (62%) from the field and 10-13 (76%) at the free-throw line, adding seven rebounds and two blocks, including eight points in the decisive 14-2 third quarter burst that broke a tie and put Lions ahead for good.

That was the exclamation mark on a great month for her personally, as she had previously scored 26 points on 9-13 (69%) shooting in their semi-final success over top four rivals B. Braun Sheffield Hatters.

Lions also picked up a pair of league wins at the Copper Box Arena to remain atop the WBBL Championship table, with Herbert-Harrigan averaging 26 points per game across the four contests in the month, along with six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, on eye-watering shooting percentages of 67% from the field, 64% from three-point range, and 81% at the free-throw line.

Overall, she is third in the WBBL for scoring with 18.6 points per game on the fifth-best field goal percentage (53%), while leading the league in three-point shooting at a startling 51% for the season so far on 45 attempts; and likewise with her 84% from the free-throw line.

Herbert-Harrigan and her team will now look to secure the WBBL Championship title in April, a month that already started with consecutive wins over top four rivals Sheffield Hatters and Sevenoaks Suns, with a home contest against Leicester Riders on 16th April being a potential key showdown.
