Sheffield Hatters 95-70 Cardiff Met Archers (26-26, 47-37, 63-56, 95-70)

A powerful fourth quarter surge saw Leicester Riders secure victory on the road against Caledonia Pride this afternoon, while Sheffield Hatters earned two points in comfortable fashion against Cardiff Met Archers.

The Scots, led by 24 points from Laken James, came within nine minutes of an upset on their first home game in front of fans this season.

Deadlocked at 16-16 at the end of the opening quarter, the Pride traded leads three times in the second before an 8-0 run put the hosts 34-28 ahead.

Leicester trailed 38-33 at half-time but James sparked another eight unanswered points as Caledonia’s advantage peaked at 50-41.

However the Riders began their rally with an immediate 7-0 burst and although the Pride held a narrow advantage early in the final period, 13 consecutive points in a 25-6 closing flurry swung the tide with Oceana Hamilton pacing the visitors on 17 points and new signing Alison Lewis adding 15 on an impressive debut.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Hatters continued to keep pressure of Sevenoaks and London at the top of the WBBL Championship standings, taking a 25-point win over the visiting Cardiff Met Archers.

The result leaves Hatters just shy of joint-1st place alongside London Lions and Sevenoaks Suns, on a 11-1 record.
