Leicester Riders produced an incredible fourth quarter performance to overcome a stern test from Cardiff Met Archers on Sunday afternoon, whilst Caledonia Pride registered their second win of the season.

Sunday’s win sees the Riders close the gap to the top three in the Championship, and Pride snapped a seven-game losing streak with a much-needed win.

Despite the two sides’ contrasting form, the Archers started the ballgame strongly before a late Riders surge gave them the lead by halftime. Cardiff then flew out the gates in the third period, and led by Shannon Hatch led going into the final 10 minutes.

The Riders saved their best quarter for last, and a 30-point period secured a big win for Leicester to cap off the weekend.

Oceana Hamilton posted a monster double-double of 22 points and 22 rebounds in a dominant showing, whilst Hatch led all scorers with 28 points.

The afternoon’s opening game saw Caledonia Pride exact revenge on Oaklands Wolves after Wolves took the win in Pride’s last competitive game last month. Both sides struggled to gain a foothold in the game with shooting issues, before Pride locked the doors in the third quarter and held Wolves to only nine points.

A low scoring final quarter was enough for Pride to secure a big win on their return to action, with Wolves posting only 20% from the field.

Sian Phillips led the Pride with 16 points and seven rebounds in another impressive defensive showing, whilst Merissa Quick led the Wolves with 13 points.
