Sevenoaks Suns kept up their perfect run for the season and moved within two points of the top of the WBBL Championship with a convincing win over Oaklands Wolves on Thursday.

The result sees the Suns close the gap to London Lions and Leicester Riders at the top, with two games in hand over the league leaders as they maintained the Championship’s only unbeaten record.

Fresh from Wednesday’s commanding win over Cardiff Met Archers, there were no signs of fatigue for the Suns who flew out the gates in the first quarter, and went on a 13-0 run before the Wolves could get a score on the board.

Catherine Carr continued her fine form after nearly scoring a double-double in Wednesday’s game, as she scored 11 of the Suns’ 19 first quarter points.

Oaklands improved in the second period, however the Suns’ relentless work on offensive rebounds helped them take a sizeable lead into halftime.

The Suns looked to put the game to bed early in the third and again held their opponents to only six points for the quarter as they fired their way into a 25 point lead.

Oaklands were looking to keep up their push for the Playoffs after winning their last two on the bounce and erupted for 32 points in the fourth quarter, however could not bridge the gap to the significant Suns lead.

Carr led all scorers with 24 points for the ball game to go with seven rebounds whilst Melita Emmanuel-Carr continued her comeback from injury with a team high 11 points for Oaklands.
