Suns to count on Koppl again

Austrian forward Julia Koppl is returning for a second season at Sevenoaks Suns, having been an integral part of the club’s maiden WBBL Championship title last year.

The newcomer had a terrific rookie season at the club and was a cornerstone of their success, which also witnessed Suns landing consecutive WBBL Play-Off titles.

Something of an unsung hero, the value of Koppl was certainly recognised within her own locker room – while she was high up on opposing scouting reports as opponents tried to disrupt her eye-catching levels of efficiency and reliability.

“Julia was a solid inside presence for us last year and probably played her best game of the year in the Final at The O2 in the WBBL Play-Off Final,” mused Suns’ head coach, Len Busch.

“However, I’m now looking forward to seeing her take it to a whole new level for us this year.”

Koppl was an absolute rock for her side and averaged almost 10 points and 6 rebounds per game during the 2017-18 campaign.

She joins fellow returnees Cat Carr and Renee Busch, as well as Suns’ newcomers Vanessa Da Silva and Janice Monakana.
