It was another weekend full of drama at both ends of the table in the WBBL Championship.

Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters further opened up the title race after taking down Nottingham Wildcats 67-62 in front of the BBC Sport cameras on Friday night.

Georgia Gayle went 10-of-10 from the foul line in a 13-point effort with three other players in double figures as the Hatters recovered from a slow start to win having been 13 down at one stage.

“We didn’t have a good first half and we weren’t taking the right shots,” admits Vanessa Ellis.

“I said at half-time I wanted to see some passion and fight and I think the girls showed that and wanted the win.

“Little bit of a repeat from last week with the ending, but that’s just our confidence at the moment and I’ll be going over that in the week.”

The Wildcats bounced back superbly with a 101-75 success over challengers, Leicester Riders.

A win for the visitors would have put the two sides level at the top, but Ashley Harris put up 28 points and 10 rebounds with five players in total in double figures for Nottingham.

Caledonia Pride followed up a historic first home win with two more victories on a successful double-winning weekend.

Bart Sengers’ side recorded a 66-56 success over Oaklands Wolves before following with an impressive 70-47 triumph against Barking Abbey Crusaders with 18 points from Sarah Thomson.

That puts Pride into the Play-Off spots after Cardiff Met Archers suffered two defeats over the weekend.

A Thursday evening loss against Barking Abbey was followed by a 53-78 defeat at home to Manchester Mystics, despite a 25-point showing from Judit Fritz.

Georgia Jones top scored with 20 points, while Lauren Thomas-Johnson hauled down a mammoth 20 rebounds to go with 13 points as the Mystics remain in the title fight.

Also, there was a 77-70 overtime victory for Team Northumbria as they held off a spirited effort from Oaklands to prevail in the extra period.

The visitors battled back to force overtime before Northumbria secured the win behind 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists from Alison Gorrell.
