Leicester Riders have added standout guard Jen Ashton to their roster ahead of the 2018-19 WBBL campaign.

The Great Britain player will suit up for Riders following an award winning debut season with Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters last year.

Ashton was named in the Molten WBBL Team the Year for 2017-18, as well as in the Molten Defensive Team of the Year and Molten British Team of the Year. In what was her rookie campaign in the league, she led the WBBL in assists with an eye-popping seven per game and also did it at the defensive end with 3.2 steals per outing.

Alongside these league leading numbers, Ashton averaged an impressive 10.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game too.

A terrific addition for Riders, Head Coach Jesper Sundberg is delighted to have Ashton on board, ahead of the rapidly approaching 2018-19 WBBL campaign.

He stated: “I’m really excited about Jen joining the team since she was one of the best players in the league last season.

“She is a very good floor leader, with great vision and knowledge of the game.

“Jen is also a great person, who will contribute to our program both on and off the court,” concluded the play-caller.
